Still Life with Bowl of Pears

Tracey is exploring a new method of painting. The first, Still Life with Bottle, was painting from observation using her trademark vibrant colours. Still painted with a brush, it was moving away from her more recent works in a freer and looser style. Subsequently, Tracey painted Still Life with Coffee Pot using a credit card and palette knife. Getting even more loose in style. She followed these up with Still Life with Bowl of Pears and Still Life with Bowl of Limes that she painted simultaneously in this newer, looser style. All paintings were done from observation of still life arrangements. A palette knife and credit card forces the artist not to focus on fine details but capture the image in loose, bold strokes. Creating an impression of the subject rather than a detailed 'copy'.
