Emerging from my Cocoon (Print)

Tracey painted Emerging from my Cocoon during the workshops with her Widows Art Community. Initially, it was just a painting of a butterfly using a reference photo of Barry’s (her deceased partner). Barry was a photographer and she loves to use photos of his as her references as it gives her a connection with him while she is working.

However, as this painting was developing, she realised the emerging from a cocoon image resonated with her life. She feels that, after the long years of her partner’s illness and the subsequent grief and loss after his death, she is now emerging from her cocoon. It is interesting how something that is just a random photo chosen for a workshop can turn into something with so much meaning.
