Any widow will tell you that there are no words to describe how agonising, difficult, and isolating the process of relearning how to live is. We may smile and show the world that we are doing fine, overcoming the grief but it doesn't mean that we truly are. That is why, Tracey decided to create the Widows Art Community.
Widows Art Community is a group of women who have lost their life partner. In this caring group, they support each other. Tracey teaches them to paint in the pointillist style which is a very meditative form of art. Painting in the pointillist style gives them a new tool to help them cope and get through the days. No art skills or experience are required. This is for every widow who wants to breathe and let go of the heavy feelings of grief after loss, at least for a while. It is beneficial to both those who have recently lost their life partner and those who are further down the road. For artists who already know how therapeutic painting is, it is an opportunity to possibly learn a new skill but also to share this time with other widows.
Everyone is free to express not just their art skills but also all the thoughts running through their minds. They have both meaningful and random conversations while they are working on their ‘masterpieces’ — which is one of the best parts about taking the course. At the end of each workshop session, everyone feels better seeing their artwork.
